NCHAC CEM Debolal Gorlosa attends inception ceremony of Nagar Van

HAFLONG: The Chief Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa attended the ceremonial plantation ceremony on the occasion of Hariyali Saptah and the inception ceremony of Nagar Van at Veer Sambhudhan Phonglo Park, Maibang on Friday.

CEM Gorlosa was accompanied by Ranu Langthasa, Chairperson, Samuel Changsan, EM, Biswajit Daolagupu, EM, Nipolal Hojai, EM, M. Tungnung, CCF, Joysing During, MAC, Bijit Langthasa, MAC.

In this connection, a public meeting was also held wherein every speaker while stressing the importance of preservation and protection of forests lauded the government for sanctioning the scheme in Dima Hasao. They also explained the objective of creation of such Nagar Vans.

A total number of 75 such Nagar Vans would be created in the country and among the three in the State of Assam, Dima Hasao has got one of such schemes.

The objectives of Nagar Van are creating green space and aesthetic environment in an urban area, creating awareness about plants and biodiversity and conservation of important flora of the region, mitigating pollution, providing cleaner air, noise reduction, water harvesting etc. NCHAC CEM Gorlosa said that public support would be required to implement such scheme which is always beneficial to the people.
