NCHAC CEM Debolal Gorlosa, EM inspects ongoing restoration work in Haflong

HAFLONG: Chief Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa and Executive Member Nojit Kemprai inspected the ongoing restoration work at Jhunu Nulla, Gurubari etc. of Haflong-Lanka road on Tuesday.

The Haflong-Lanka road was badly damaged due to heavy rain and landslides on May 16 and May 17. During that time, the road was damaged at many locations and restoration work was carried out. But on June 15-June 16 again the road was damaged at many locations further.

During the first phase of rain in May, devastation was more in and around Haflong and Borail but during the second phase, more damages were reported in rural areas of Dima Hasao. Though actual damages are yet to be ascertained, it is estimated that it will take some time to restore and rebuild the district again to its earlier glory.

CEM Gorlosa, while talking to the media, appreciated all the people of Dima Hasao for extending their support during this period of crisis and said that the entire NCHAC team was working hard to restore and rebuild the district. All the main roads and approach roads that were built earlier had been badly damaged.
