New branch of Zoological Society of Assam formed at Tinsukia College

TINSUKIA: A new branch of Zoological Society of Assam (ZSA) was formed at the Department of Zoology, Tinsukia College on Saturday in presence of Dr Balendra Kr Das, president of ZSA, who is also the Director (Administration) of USTM Meghalaya, and Dr Jogen Ch Kalita, secretary of ZSA and also professor of Zoology, Gauhati University.

The branch was formally inaugurated by Dr Surjya Chetia, Principal of the college amid the presence of faculty members of Zoology and Botany departments and students of the department. Dr Rishi Das, former faculty of the department, was also present. Dr Kalita outlined the objective of the society and assured the ZSA's support to students in building their career. He also mentioned about availability of online study materials in ZSA blog which would be of immense benefit to undergraduate students of biology. In his address, Dr Balendra Kr Das appreciated the interest shown by the department and urged upon the faculty members to organize different activities under the banner of ZSA.
