New Darrang Superintendent of Police (SP) Prakash Sonowal takes charge

Commandant of 5th Assam Commando Battalion (Urban Operation and Law & Order) at Pabhoi in Biswanath, Prakash Sonowal, who is an Assam Police Service officer of the 2004 batch, on Sunday evening took over as the 28th Superintendent of Police (SP) of Darrang.

MANGALDAI: Commandant of 5th Assam Commando Battalion (Urban Operation and Law & Order) at Pabhoi in Biswanath, Prakash Sonowal, who is an Assam Police Service officer of the 2004 batch, on Sunday evening took over as the 28th Superintendent of Police (SP) of Darrang.

Outgoing Superintendent of Police Prasanta Saikia completed a short tenure of eight months and 15 days in Darrang. On Sunday, he handed over charge to the new SP. Prasanta Saikia will join as the Superintendent of Police in Special Branch (R & AC) at Kahilipara in Guwahati. All the ranks of Darrang Police bade a warm farewell to Prasanta Saikia and accorded a hearty welcome to Prakash Sonowal in a hurriedly-arranged function.
