LAKHIMPUR: Senior ACS officer Pallavi Phukan assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji district on Tuesday. She replaced ACS officer Ashim Kumar Bhattacharya. Prior to it, Pallavi Phukan was working at Assam Secretariat as Additional Secretary of the Soil Conservation Department.

Notably, the Government of Assam transferred Ashim Kumar Bhattacharya, the Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji, to the Assam Secretariat as the Additional Secretary of the Home Affairs through an order issued on January 27 and appointed Pallavi Phukan as new Deputy Commissioner of the district.

On Monday evening, the administrative officers of the district accorded farewell felicitation to Bhattacharya in a programme organized at Dhemaji Officers' Club. While speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharya said that working in Dhemaji was a unique experience for him. He expressed his gratitude to all for extending cooperation towards him during his 10-month period in office. He said that every work was performed unitedly in a team spirit. He added that his working life started in Jonai subdivision of Dhemaji.

The programme was chaired by ADC Jadab Pegu, wherein DDC Arup Pathak, Dhemaji Zila Parishad CEO Jayanta Kumar Borah, SP Ranjan Bhuyan, DIPRO Bikash Sarmah, AC Trilina Taid, BDO Nabin Kaman delivered brief lecture in the programme and appreciated Bhattacharya as an efficient officer.
