Newly-elected chairpersons, ward commissioners take oath in Darrang district

MANGALDAI: All the three newly-elected female chairpersons of the three civic bodies of Darrang district, along with the vice-chairman, assumed office on Wednesday.

Earlier, the newly-elected chairpersons, vice-chairmen and Ward Commissioners ceremonially took their oath in public functions organized in their respective civic bodies, namely Mangaldai , Kharupetia and Sipajhar. Mangaldai Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia also took his oath as an ex-officio member for each of the three bodies.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Saikia urged the newly-elected members to work unitedly for the best interest of the tax-paying citizens of their respective municipalities. In the oath-taking ceremony at Mangaldai, Sipajhar legislator Dr Parmananda Rajbongshi, former Mangaldai legislator Gurujyoti Das and district presidents of both BJP and AGP , senior officials of the district administration, Executive Officer of Mangaldoi Municipal Board, Rini Hazarika and others were present.

Nirmali Devi Sharma is the new chairperson of Mangaldai Municipal Board while Krishna Saha and Pinakshi Sarma are the chairpersons for Kharupetia and Sipajhar respectively.
