No dead body found inside water reservoir at Sadarghat, it's rumour, says PHE official

SILCHAR: On Sunday, when the attention of all the people of Silchar was concentrated on counting of votes in connection with Assam Assembly Election, 2021, a message started to spread in social media like wild fire. Whoever received the message instantly forwarded it to others. By evening, it became the talk of the town. The viral message was regarding a dead body inside the water reservoir of Silchar Water Supply Scheme at Sadarghat.

As maximum of the concerned departmental officials and staff were engaged in the counting of votes on Sunday, it was not possible for them to ascertain the truth and inform the residents of Silchar. On Monday. Tapan Sharma, Executive Engineer of Silchar Division-1 informed that, "A message stating that a dead body of a person is found in the water reservoir of Silchar Water Supply Scheme at Sadarghat has been in wide circulation. But this is totally unfounded and sheer rumour."

The Executive Engineer of the department concerned further clarified, "Immediately after the information reached us, we conducted a thorough investigation of the different units of Water Supply Scheme, but nothing untoward as such was detected. The Silchar Water Supply Scheme is running as usual." The Executive Engineer also appealed to the people not to believe in hearsay and be restrained from spreading such rumours without verifying it from the concerned department, stated a press release issued from DDIPR office, Silchar.
