‘No power has been taken from KAAC’: Tuliram Ronghang

Donkamukam: Countering the Opposition’s propaganda against diminishing power of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), the KAAC CEM, Tuliram Ronghang said that the present KAAC was most powerful.

“Among the councils under Sixth Schedule in the Northeast, the KAAC is the most powerful and no power has been taken by the State Government. More budget has been allotted to us and we have initiated many developmental works in every nook and corner of the district,” he said while addressing a meeting on Thursday. “No corruption has been done,” he further added.

Lambasting the Opposition, he said, “Some self-styled leaders have no agenda but to instigate the educated youths by saying that power is being taken away or the Sixth Schedule areas are becoming powerless.” He assured the people that they had nothing to worry about.

In the meeting, 135 households received free cooking gas under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Also, iPad for the leaders of the local committee along with appointment letters were also distributed. The KAAC CEM also distributed a one-time grant-in-aid to the flood victims of the recent flood under Bithung Rengthama MAC constituency. Earlier in the morning, Ronghang participated in the Raax Leela procession held at Taradubi by the Assamese community in West Karbi Anglong.
