GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway celebrated 133rd birth anniversary of independent India's first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad at NF Railway headquarters on Thursday. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was a freedom fighter, a politician, and an eminent educationist. This observance was carried out in connection with celebration of 75th Anniversary of India's Independence 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'.

Rahul Gautam, Additional General Manager of NF Railway, in a tribute to the first education minister of the country, lighted the lamp and offered flower to the portrait of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Good numbers of officers and staff of NF Railway headquarters were present during the occasion to commemorate the birth anniversary of this great personality.

Addressing to the gathering, Rahul Gautam gave a beautiful explanation about the life of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He said that Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was a great scholar and poet; he was well versed in Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi, Persian and Bengali languages. He also stated that Maulana Azad, a supporter of the main stream of national life, was an example of the mixed culture of the country. Maulana Azad did the work of establishing free education, Indian Education system and higher education institutions. Life of Maulana Azad is source of inspiration for all and this is the reason we are remembering him on the occasion of 75th Anniversary of India's Independence, stated a press release.
