GAURISAGAR: Prafulla Saikia, a resident of Dikhowmukh Bharalua village on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar and a noted educationist, social worker and assistant teacher of Dikhowmukh HS School, passed away on Tuesday morning at his residence due to old-age ailments.
He was the founder teacher of Dikhowmukh HS School, established by noted educationist and first martyr journalist of Assam, Kamala Saikia. He was a sincere and devoted teacher. He was loved and respected by all sections of people due to his amicable behavior. As a devotee of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, he worked hard to promote the Sangha’s activities.
Teachers and students of Dikhowmukh HS School, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Bharalua Yuvak Sangha, Dikhowmukh Janajati High School, Dikhowmukh Press Club, Dikhowmukh Sakha Xahitya Xabha and Dikhowmukh Anchalik Baidik Vaishnav Samaj have condoled his demise. He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives.
