Noted science writer Dr. Amiya Rajbonshi feted by Lakhimpur Telahi Kamalaboria (LTK) College

LAKHIMPUR: Noted science writer of the State, Dr. Amiya Rajbonshi, who hails from Lakhimpur district, was given warm felicitation by Lakhimpur Telahi Kamalaboria (LTK) College for winning a national award for her outstanding performance in popularizing science.

Notably, the science writer on February 28 received the prestigious ‘National Award for Outstanding Efforts in Science and Technology Communication’ through print media, including books and magazines for the year 2019. The award is coordinated by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) Division of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology under Government of India.

The felicitation program was organized in connection with the International Women’s Day, 2020 which commenced with LTK College Principal Dr. Bubul Kumar Saikia in the chair. He also delivered the welcome address. College Management Committee president Bonti Gogoi Howborah inaugurated the program. She elaborated on the history of International Women’s Day and its significance. She also highlighted the life and works of the science writer along with her contributions to the field of science. The science writer was feted with a citation, gamosa, cheleng sador and a safura by the college. Receiving the felicitation, Dr. Amiya Rajbonshi delivered her speech on scientific temperament on the basis of her experiences encouraging the students.

Lakhimpur DSP (Headquarter) Runa Neog graced the occasion as the appointed speaker. She appealed to the students to be aware of the misuse of social media and not to spoil their invaluable life and time being busy with those which were demoralizing and socially adverse. She encouraged them to mold their life with strong moral character, hard labor, and punctual studies.
