LAKHIMPUR: Along with the State, the victims of the serial blasts that took place on October 30 in 2008, were remembered in Lakhimpur district too. Notably, countless innocent people, on this day, were killed in the brutal terrorist attacks in various parts of Assam, including Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta Road, and Bongaigaon. Since then, black day is observed every year in the State on October 30 in memory of those who died in the serial blasts 13 years back.

In this connection, the Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) organized a shradhanjali programme on Saturday evening in the Swahid Bedi premises in North Lakhimpur town in association with the North Lakhimpur regional unit of the organization. The AASU activists lit earthen lamps commemorating the blast victims and praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul. During the programme, the AASU activists shouted slogans to end insurgency and terrorism. Prominent figures of Lakhimpur Nazim Hussain, Mridul Baruah, Nabiul Hussain, Debojit Mazumder, AASU executive member Dhanmoni Dutta and Lakhimpur district unit conveners along with other office bearers were present in the programme.
