Oil India Limited (OIL) observes Swachhata Pakhwada with community-led initiatives

DIBRUGARH: Oil India Limited (OIL) observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 from July 1 to 15 with a fortnight-long campaign at its Field Headquarters, featuring a series of impactful initiatives focused on cleanliness, sustainability, and public health.

The campaign commenced with pledge-taking ceremonies at OIL offices and installations, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission.

In line with this spirit, a host of outreach activities were carried out, including shramdaan, plantation drives, and awareness campaigns across communities. Special emphasis was laid on youth engagement through the ‘Innovate to Elevate’ science model exhibitions organized in government schools, encouraging innovation and environmental consciousness among students.

Another exhibition on waste management under the theme ‘Waste to Wealth’ was organized at ITI Lahowal, showcasing creative waste management solutions.

Public health was a key focus of the campaign, with health screening camps and hygiene awareness drives organized in remote villages across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura. These initiatives not only addressed immediate healthcare needs but also educated communities on sanitation and preventive care.

OIL also supported local infrastructure by donating garbage collection vehicles to Moran Municipality Board and installing water filters at ITI Lahowal and Tokoubaam Milon LP School, Uttar Somdar Gaon, to improve access to clean drinking water. Street plays were staged in public spaces to sensitize communities on the dangers of improper waste management and single-use plastics and the importance of sustainable alternatives.

Through its proactive and community-driven initiatives during Swachhata Pakhwada 2025, OIL reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship, public welfare, and nation building.
