Assam: 5,000 saplings planted under Swachh Bharat Mission in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI: North Eastern Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute, Biswanath Chariali under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, launched a programme titled ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ on Wednesday. As a part of the programme launched by the Government of India under Swachh Bharat Mission, 5,000 tea and other tree saplings were planted in the campus of the Institute today.

The programme was inaugurated by P Kamalabai, Director of the institute, in the presence of officials and staff of the Institute, more than 100 trainees from various engineering colleges, universities, and farmers. Inaugurating it, she said, “With a view to make the institute a green campus, it has been decided to plant 11,000 saplings of various fruit and other trees this year.” The Director also explained the advantages of mechanization in the agriculture sector and the machinery developed for farmers and their applications. The programme was attended by senior Agricultural Engineer MR Patel, Farm Superintendent Tejbir Singh, Agricultural Engineer Rajnish Patel, Administrative Officer Bitul Payeng, and others.
