TINSUKIA: Based on the FIR lodged by the boarders of a girls' hostel alleging sexual harassment, Doomdooma police in Tinsukia district arrested the chowkidar-cum-warden of the hostel on Tuesday. According to Doomdooma police, 10 girl boarders of Borhapjan High School lodged an FIR against the Chowkidar-cum-warden of the hostel Ananda Buragohain on Monday after they were subjected to persistent sexual harassment in various ways. The police on receiving the complaint picked up Boragohain for interrogation on Tuesday and subsequently arrested him. Students' guardians told reporters that while their wards had informed the school authority about the atrocities committed by Boragohain, the headmistress of the school had denied it. The guardians have pointed out serious lapses on the part of the school authority, such as how the school authority allowed a male person to stay inside the hostel premises, as well as how 10 girls went to the Doomdooma police station, which is 10 kilometres away from the school location, without the school authority's knowledge, despite the fact that the school's headmistress reportedly commutes daily from Tinsukia.
