One dies in landslide at Kana Basti, Haflong

HAFLONG: In a bizarre incident, one worker lost his life after he was buried due to landslide while working in a construction site at Kana Basti, near Vivekananda School, Haflong on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Ala Uddin (43), son of Manik Ali, village Malaidiyenpar, Bodorpur, Karimganj. The body was recovered at 2.52 PM after clearing several feet of soil which had buried him completely.

Deputy Commissioner and chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority, Nazreen Ahmed, along with DDMA team (DPO, FO) visited the spot immediately after the incident. DPO, DDMA Riki Phukan, while talking to this correspondent, said it was not a natural landslide and it had occurred in a construction site.
