One Held For Murdering Two Women In Kakojan

TINSUKIA: The Doomdooma police arrested Sonaram Bhumij, a permanent labour of Tara TE of No. 3 Kakojan under Philobari PS, for allegedly murdering two women on Friday evening using a pruning knife.

According to police, Sonaram, while returning to his quarter after duty, entered the house of Sunmoni Bhumij located at Hatimara Line and attacked her son Ashoke Bhumij with a sharp pruning knife. Hearing the screaming, Sunmoni and her married daughter Anjona Bhumij came out and they too were attacked by Sonaram. Both died on the spot.

The police later recovered the knife and clothes and registered a case bearing no 305/19 u/s 448/325/302 of IPC. Though the motive behind the murder could not be ascertained, the police suspect that an old feud might be the reason behind the attack.
