SIVASAGAR: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has reported substantial progress in its well control operations at site RDS147(A), with a marked reduction in gas flow indicating a critical milestone in containment efforts.

ONGC stated that an international expert team from CUDD Pressure Control, USA, which arrived at the site on Friday, has completed its preliminary assessment. This was revealed in a press statement issued by Corporate Communications, ONGC, New Delhi. The team is said to have reviewed all measures undertaken by ONGC and expressed confidence in the strategy and execution followed so far, endorsing the corporation's ongoing efforts to safely manage the situation.

Following a jointly developed action plan, extensive site preparations are underway to initiate the next phase of operations. The process of removing tubulars from the well has commenced, and mobilization of cranes for the removal of tubing from the rig floor is currently in progress.

It was further stated that safety measures continue to be rigorously enforced, including round-the-clock water blanketing and constant monitoring of the flood levels in the nearby Dikhow River to ensure environmental compliance and operational safety. Real-time gas detectors are being used to track Low Explosive Limit (LEL) levels around the well site. In addition, medical support is being provided at the relief camp to assist anyone in need, the company stated.
