GUWAHATI: In a significant move to enhance safety and emergency response, ONGC Assam Asset has expanded its fleet by adding 65 new ambulances. The vehicles were formally inaugurated on Thursday by ED-Asset Manager Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem at ONGC's Logistics Department in Sivasagar.

The ceremony was graced by Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, Managing Director of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), alongside senior officials from ONGC, ASTC, M/s Force Motors, and representatives from the workforce.

During the event, ED-Asset Manager Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem highlighted the crucial role of safety in ONGC's operations. He stated, "Ensuring safety and security is integral to our mission of achieving excellence in oil and gas production. The introduction of these ambulances demonstrates our commitment to prioritizing the well-being of our employees and stakeholders," while also commending the team for their meticulous planning and execution.

The newly added fleet consists of 63 Basic Ambulances, each equipped with essential features like foldable seats, swiveling fans, autoloader stretchers, and provisions for 2.2L oxygen cylinders. These ambulances will be stationed at ONGC Assam Asset’s operational sites, including drilling locations, workover rigs, and production installations.

The fleet also includes 2 Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulances, equipped with vital life-saving equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, suction pumps, and oxygen delivery systems. These ALS ambulances will be stationed at ONGC Hospital in Sivasagar and the ONGC Nazira Dispensary to provide advanced emergency care.

The ambulances have been procured through ASTC for a five-year period, highlighting ONGC's partnership with local institutions to ensure long-term sustainability and operational efficiency.

This initiative follows ONGC’s previous allocation of 372 light motor vehicles to local youths through a lottery-based tendering process, which was met with widespread appreciation from the community. Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, Managing Director of ASTC, expressed gratitude for ONGC’s partnership, emphasizing its contribution to fostering ASTC’s growth and sustainability.

“This collaboration is a testament to ONGC’s commitment to empowering local institutions. We look forward to strengthening this valuable relationship further,” Phookan stated. He also assured ONGC of ASTC’s commitment to providing uninterrupted services.

Ashish Kumar Mishra, Manager (T)-I/c Logistics, emphasized the strategic placement of the ambulances to ensure coverage at all critical operational sites. The inclusion of advanced life-support ambulances further strengthens ONGC’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies.

The addition of these ambulances reinforces ONGC Assam Asset's dedication to upholding high safety standards and safeguarding the well-being of its workforce and stakeholders. This investment highlights ONGC’s commitment to setting industry benchmarks in emergency response and operational safety.
