DHEKIAJULI: In a major breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, Orang Police under Udalguri district executed a meticulously planned midnight raid and seized a massive 42.5 kilograms of cannabis from a residence in the remote No. 1 Kachamari village. The crackdown, based on precise intelligence input, has dealt a significant blow to illegal drug networks operating in the area.

The operation was conducted on the night of June 8, from 9:30 PM to 11:30 pm, under the dynamic leadership of Officer-in-Charge Sharath Chandra Kalita. He was accompanied by a coordinated team including SI Surajit Hazarika, constables Raktim Saikia, Kanjana Rabha, and personnel from the 27th APBN Battalion Lance Naik Mintu Das, Sudarshan Das, Hemkanta Sonowal, Rinku Rava, and Khiteshwar Rava.

The contraband was recovered from the house of Deobar Basumatary, son of the late Bhabiram Basumatary, situated in the interior of No. 1 Kachamari village. Acting swiftly on a confidential tip, the team launched a stealth operation and successfully confiscated the cannabis stockpile hidden on the premises.

Following the seizure, Orang Police registered a case (Case No. 44/2025) under Section 20(b) (ii)(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and initiated legal proceedings. The seized material has been sent to court for further action.

This high-impact operation has drawn widespread appreciation from the public and social organizations alike. Citizens have applauded Orang Police for their bold and prompt action in curbing the drug menace that threatens the younger generation and societal fabric.
