HAFLONG: Assam Citizen Centric Service Delivery Project (ACCSDP), a unit of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, on Wednesday conducted a day-long orientation programme on good governance and Assam Right to Public Service (RTPS) Act, its portal and services at the District Library Auditorium, Haflong.

Principal Secretary of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, L Z Nampui attended the programme as the chief guest while Principal Secretary (N) Mukut Kemprai, along with council secretary Saindesh Ardao, Additional Secretary Hungkeukam Nriame were present as the hosts of the programme.

As briefed by H Nriame, nodal officer-cum-NCHAC Additional Secretary, Dima Hasao has 16 facilitation centres across the district which are in the process of completion to provide service to the people, especially in rural areas. In Dima Hasao, 28 services have been notified from seven departments out of which currently three services are available online through RTPS portal.

Applicants can avail the services like jamabandhi copy, permanent residential certificates and NOC for immovable properties. Other services in the pipeline targeted to be available within the early part of 2022 are income tax certificate for farmers, income tax exemption certificate and trading license.

Lauding the team guiding the IT department of the council which was recently established, Principal Secretary L Z Nampui said that once these services become fully functional, many people who travel from remote villages of the district to apply for various certificates and other such services will be benefited immensely.

Professor Rakhimoni Gogoi was invited as one of the resource persons while members of the ARIAS Society also made presentations on various topics. Presentations were made on topics such as concept of good and inclusive governance and role of Village council development committee or village development, key provisions of RTPS Act and services, features of the portal and services, its appeal and grievances management system. An open session was also held at the end of the session.

The programme was conducted successfully with the participation of citizens, gaon buras, community leaders and APEX bodies.

Others present during the programme were Council Secretary Uttam Daulagupu, District Information & Public Relations Officer Purabi Phonglo.
