Over 10 shops looted of Bisturam Barooah Hall, Jorhat

JORHAT: A total of 13 shops were looted within the market of Bisturam Barooah Hall under Jorhat Police Station, popularly known as BB Hall market, in the past three days, said Nakibur Zaman, the owner of a DTP centre in the market.

The market, which is under the authority with the Jorhat Municipality Board and is just beside the office of the Superintendent of Police and 500 metres away from the Jorhat Sadar Police Station, has 47 small and big business establishments. Most of the owners of the shops are educated unemployed youths who have started their own business related to computer goods and other items. Police picked up five persons from various locations within the city of Jorhat in the past 24 hours while a meeting was held between police, VDP and bazar committee where a decision was taken to depute private security guards who will be paid after collecting money from individual shop owners and active VDP and rider squad will be formed to assist the police as well as private security guards.
