Over Rs 1 crore seized by Barpeta district administration

BARPETA: After the notification of Assam Legislative Assembly Election, 2021, Barpeta district administration seized more than Rs 1 crore from the district along with a huge cache of illicit liquor and narcotics.

The FST (Flying Squad Team) and SST (Static Surveillance Team) has till now seized Rs. 1,00,99,998, stated the Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta in a press meet on Sunday. In No. 43 Barpeta LAC, the highest amount of Rs 41 lakh was seized, in 40 no. Sarbhog LAC Rs 30 lakh, in 47 Chenga LAC Rs 18 lakh, in 46 Sarukhetri LAC Rs 11 lakh, in 44 Jania LAC Rs 2.77 lakh and in 45 Baghbar LAC Rs 1 lakh seized.

He also added that in the entire district, 26,699 litres of country-made liquor and 821 litres IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor), 123 kg ganja, 81 kg brown sugar and 1,224 tablets were seized by FST and SST and Excise department. On the other hand, 10 polling stations of the town of Barpeta will be handled completely by women in the ensuing election. There will be two model polling stations for each constituency. In this meet, Diganta Das, DDC, Barpeta, Manoj Kr Sikaria, CEO, Zila Parishad, Barpeta, and other officials were also present.
