PALASBARI: In a heartfelt humanitarian gesture, Palasbari MLA Hemanga Thakuria on Wednesday visited the residence of 10-year-old Arnab Kashyap Kalita, a cancer patient from Hudumpur village under the Palasbari constituency, to offer financial assistance for his ongoing treatment. The support was extended through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Arnab, the only child of Brajen Kalita and Barnali Kumari Kalita, has been battling cancer for over two and a half years. Once an energetic Class 7 student who dreamed of joining the Indian Army, Arnab is now bedridden, his life drastically altered by the illness. The prolonged treatment has placed an immense financial burden on the family, making it increasingly difficult to continue advanced care in Bengaluru.

Moved by the family’s plight, MLA Thakuria handed over a one-time financial aid cheque to help cover medical expenses. He also assured the family of continued support in the days to come, offering not just financial help but also moral encouragement during this trying time.

However, the aid received so far falls short of the total cost required for Arnab’s treatment. The family has made an earnest appeal to the people of Assam and well-wishers everywhere to extend any possible support. Those willing to contribute can contact the family directly at 60001519990.
