BOKAKHAT: On the last day of filing nominations for the Panchayat elections, Mamoni Gajalu, the Mitrajot (Alliance) candidate from the Bokakhat Zila Parishad constituency, submitted her nomination.
Mamoni Gajalu is the former president of the Rojabari Gaon Panchayat. In the last Panchayat elections, contesting from the Congress party, she secured victory in the only seat won by Congress among the 20 panchayats of Bokakhat, despite facing stiff competition. However, shortly after, she joined the AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) and continued her work with appreciation and dedication.
Mamoni Gajalu, a retired and accomplished teacher, took significant steps toward women empowerment in tea gardens. Over 35 years ago, she organized women from 770 tea gardens in Assam and founded the Assam Tea Tribe Women’s Association.
