PATHSALA: Rising cases of depression and alcohol addiction among teenagers have raised serious concerns across communities, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen sports and extracurricular activities in schools.
In several areas, students under the age of 18 have been seen gathering near wine shops during evening hours, attempting to buy alcohol. This alarming trend is believed to stem from a lack of structured and engaging activities after school.
Earlier, students spent their free time playing outdoor games and participating in group activities. Now, many remain idle, often turning to unhealthy habits due to boredom, stress, and isolation. Concerned citizens have called on district administrators and school authorities to take immediate action. There is a growing demand for improved sport, infrastructure, creative clubs, and regular extracurricular programmes to keep students active, focused, and away from harmful influences. Investing in these areas is seen as a crucial step toward building a healthier and balanced future generation.
