Peace in BTR not possible until demands of all communities are fulfilled: AKRSU

BONGAIGAON: "Peace in the BTR area is impossible if it is not brought by consulting and fulfilling the demands of all communities of the region. Kamatapur Liberisation Organization is active in this region. Other non-violent organizations are also active here. But the government never showed interest to talk with these violent and non-violent organizations before the formation of BTR. Formation of BTR just for the interest of one community whose population is just 27 percent in that region will bring only hostility in the area. Both the Central and State governments led by BJP wants this for political benefit," said Gokul Barman, secretary of AKRSU on Tuesday. He said that all non-Bodo organizations had become united to oppose BTR.

A joint press meet was held on Tuesday in Bongaigaon where several organizations, including AKRSU, ABMSU, Nath-Yogi Students' Union and Kalita Students' Union were present and they decided to oppose BTR until the political, social and economic rights of other communities were safeguarded.

The indefinite proposed BTR area bandh called by all these organizations against forming of BTR has been postponed for Saraswati Puja and Assam Xahitya Xabha's Sualkuchi convention.
