DONKAMUKAM: Those were the days where every citizen of Karbi Anglong was aware of the fact that Departmental Office, Inspection Bungalow, bridges, post offices, and many more such public property of several crores was burnt or demolished by the activists and supporters in the uprising led by a conglomerate of NGOs under the banner of Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS) for implementation 244(A) for Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao in 2014.

During the movement, the activists did not even spare the only Water Resource Inspection Bunglow of Karbi Anglong which was situated at Bhellapara, West Karbi Anglong. It was constructed by the then EM KAAC (Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council) Sing Teron when he was in-charge of the Water Resource department.

Now the people in this crucial time have started gossiping the necessity of the Inspection Bunglow (IB) since the area is affected by floods and that also lie bordering No: 5 Rongkhang and No: 6 Bithung Rengthama MAC constituencies. The recent wave of flood has hit the area hard where Tumpreng Bhellapara Satgaon road at Bhellapara too submerged under water where commuters could not pass through the road. "Department could have stored the rice bags and tarpaulin meant for the affected people in the IB during the recent flood if the building was okay," said a local of the area.

Another passerby said, "Land is already there in the name of the department if Rs 14 lakh to Rs 15 lakh is sanctioned by the present regime the building would have rose beautifully once again".

It may be mentioned that this year Assam, particularly West Karbi Anglong has faced unprecedented rains and third wave of flood in the last two months affecting normal life and cultivation and is expected yet another flood fury in the coming days.

Wrath of nature has brought pain to the farming community and the whole economy of the State has dwindled due to the floods.

Therefore, the conscious netizens through have now urged the KAAC authority to rebuild the IB at the earliest for greater interest and convenience of the people.
