TEZPUR: In a significant breakthrough, Sonitpur police arrested a man involved in the theft and illegal sale of high-end cameras. The accused, Raktim Ranjan Saikia, hailing from Dekargaon, had been working as a professional photographer, frequently covering weddings, social events, and other public functions.

According to police sources, Raktim used his profession as a front to rent expensive cameras from various individuals, only to illegally sell them off for personal profit. He stands accused of misappropriating seven premium DSLR cameras of renowned brands such as Sony and Nikon, with a total estimated value of over Rs 40 lakh.
