GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Guwahati on February 24 at around 5 PM to participate in the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit.
"The Prime Minister will witness the Jhumoir performance on February 24. The following day, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, he will attend the Advantage Assam conclave," CM Sarma stated.
He further revealed that, in addition to the Prime Minister, several Union Ministers will also be present at the summit in Guwahati.
"During my recent visit to Delhi, I met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and discussed key infrastructure projects, including the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, Majuli-Jorhat bridge, Jorhat-Dibrugarh road, Numaligarh-Gohpur tunnel, and the proposed ring road," the Chief Minister shared.
Meanwhile, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika chaired a preparatory review meeting for 'Jhumoir Binondini,' a grand Jhumoir performance set to take place in the presence of PM Modi on February 24.
"We discussed important aspects of the preparations to ensure a successful celebration of Assam's rich cultural heritage," Hazarika stated.
Earlier, CM Sarma met PM Modi at Parliament House on Monday, as per a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). During the meeting, he conveyed his gratitude on behalf of the people of Assam for the Central Government’s approval of a urea plant in Namrup, calling it a 'game-changer' for the state’s development.
The Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit was also discussed during the meeting. CM Sarma appreciated the Prime Minister’s guidance and mentioned that the large Jhumoir performance, planned a day before the investment and infrastructure summit, was an important part of their discussions, the statement added.
