Police Commemoration Day observed at Biswanath Chariali

Biswanath Chariali: A speech competition among school children was organized on Monday on the topic ‘Role of Police in Society’ on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day at Biswanath Chariali under the aegis of Biswanath district police administration at the conference hall of Biswanath Chariali police station.

The programme was conducted by Mujaffar Hussein, DSP (HQ), Biswanath while the inaugural address was delivered by Additional Superintendent of Police, Partha Sarathi Borah. Supriya Sounick and Vaishali Kashyap of Class IX of JNV, Sonitpur and Smita Das, Class IX of Biswanath Abhyashin Vidyapith secured first, second and third positions respectively in the competition. Chintamoni Sharma, Principal of Biswanath College, Swapna Borah, Principal of Chariali HS and MP School, Niranjan Hazarika, senior journalist and Chandra Luitel, Assistant Teacher, Chariali Academy took part as judges.

In the same event, the winners of the half marathon organized by Biswanath Police on October 20 in Biswanath Chariali town - Constable Bikash Kutum of Biswanath Chariali Police Station, Constable Lutfur Rahman of Gingia Police Station and Constable Krishna Kakoti of Traffic Branch, Biswanath Chariali - were also awarded by the judges.

Earlier in the day, Police Commemoration Day was celebrated in the ground of Biswanath Chariali PS with the ‘shok drill’ and reading out names of the martyrs from police forces across India who had lost their lives during the last one year. On the other hand, the SDPO, Gohpur and OC of Halem PS visited the family and school of martyr Niraj Chetry, a SSB jawan who got killed in Dumka district of Jharkhand in June, at Kawripathar, Halem as a mark of respect on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.
