BONGAIGAON: A police officer's family in Chirang set an example by taking care of a one-and-half month old baby Golden Langur. OC of Bengtol PS Haidar Hussein found the baby monkey in Oujharguri of Chirang while on duty. "It was very weak when I found it. I took it to my home and my wife Fatema Khatun took care of the baby monkey. It seemed very hungry and hence we feed it cow milk. My wife used to take care of it like her own child. The baby monkey regained health and then I informed the forest department of Chirang. The forest officials informed the State Zoo authority in Guwahati and a team from the zoo arrived in his house today and took it away," Hussein said.

The forest department and zoo team appreciated Hussein's family for showing extraordinary animal love to the animal. Brahmananda Patiri, Chirang district forest officer, said that Hussein's wife loved and took care of the monkey like a mother. On the other hand in Samthaibari area of Chirang, a police team recovered a rare species of owl. Three poachers were trying to sell it. All three poachers are arrested by police. They were identified as Som Mardi from Athiabari village, Mongol Hembrom and Lakhan Hasda from Haldibari village. Police handed over the owl to the forest department and registered a case against the three poachers.
