Poor construction of road under Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG: At a time when the Haflong PWD Road in particular has been setting examples in road infra development in the district of Dima Hasao, the poor construction of village roads under the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) of District Mineral Foundation Trust, Dima Hasao might tarnish the image of Dima Hasao PWD at large.

The construction of (Paver Block) Village Road from Loang Market to Boro Lokhindong via Tharvelangso under Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) of District Mineral Foundation Trust, Dima Hasao with road length of 2.5 km with estimated amount of 99,89,375 for the year 2020-21 remained incomplete due to reasons best known to the authority concerned.

The villagers of these areas said the road was supposed to be completed within 2020-21 but only 200 metres out of 2.5 km of the total length of the road were constructed and for the remaining length of the road, only sand gravel was laid but that too got washed away during the rain. They also said that the contractor made them understand that the scheme would continue year after year.

Many opined that a neutral investigation should be constituted against the construction of village road and other developmental schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) in Dima Hasao.
