LAKHIMPUR: An "Induction Programme" in the Department of Education, North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) was held on Tuesday for the inauguration of Postgraduate Programme in Education.

The programme was presided over by Dr Biman Chandra Chetia, the principal, of the college while the objective of the programme was explained by Bani Kanta Konwar, the Head of the Department of Education. Prominent academician Dr Mukunda Rajbonshi, the president of the College Governing Body attended the programme as guest of honour who delivered his lecture on educational progress of the nation.

Assistant Professor of the Department, Dr Ishmi Rekha Handique presented a brief outline on "Two Years' Post Graduate Programme in Education" and shared her views on future perspectives. Controller of Examinations, Dr. Chandra Mantche explained on assessment of learning outcome while Librarian Nizara Gogoi, shared her thoughts on the use of library material. Former Head of the Department (HoD) of Education, Dr Golok Chandra Dutta and HoD, of Education, Lakhimpur Girls' College Robin Kakati, highlighted different disciplines of education. Vice Principals of College Dr Dudumoni Bhuyan (Senior section) and Ranjan Bora (Junior Section) and other faculties of the college were among those who attended the programme. In the programme, Dr Biman Chandra Chetia explained his views on holistic and multidisciplinary education. In the same programme, warm welcome was accorded to the students of the first-batch of PG Course.
