'Pothar Konya' Nabanita Das launches organic vegetable shop in Jorhat district

JORHAT: A recipient of Government of India sponsored 'Best Woman Farmer of the Country' award, Nabanita Das, popularly known as 'Pothar Konya' of village Potia Fokola Gaon in the Jorhat district, launched her dream stall 'Nabanita Organic Vegetable Shop' in Jorhat on Wednesday.

With the help and guidance of Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman and officials of the Agriculture department in Jorhat, she started her shop at the junction of KB Road on Old Circuit House Road near the ASRLM office. In quite an exception to the traditional inaugural ceremony, she inaugurated her shop without any ceremony, not even ribbon cutting.

Officials of District Agriculture department and social activists Mriganku Bahak and Ratul Kumar Das were present at the inauguration. In 'Nabanita Organic Vegetable Shop', all organic vegetables, fruits and flowers of different varieties are available at comparatively cheaper rates. On the very first day, a good number of buyers made a beeline to purchase green and fresh vegetables.
