Tamalpur: Power tillers were distributed among selected farmers of Tamulpur district under the National Food Security Abhijan (NFSA) at a solemn function held at the Tamulpur Subdivision Agriculture Officer's office at Tamulpur district headquarters on Friday.

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Agriculture Department Executive Member Ghanshyam Das distributed the power tillers specially allocated to Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) farmers under the NFSA scheme with a view to double the agricultural production of framers.

Speaking at the meeting organized by Tamulpur Subdivision Agriculture Officer Niranjan Hazawari ahead of the distribution of power tillers, BTC Executive Member Ghanshyam Das said that the Narendra Modi-led government had adopted many ambitious schemes aimed at radically transforming the agriculture sector of the country. Through these schemes, farmers should increase the production of their crops by cultivating two or three times per year to make their families financially sound as well as strengthen the economic sector of the country.

As part of that, Ghanshyam Das said that power tillers had been distributed among some selected farmers of Tamulpur district. Executive Member Ghanshyam Das again said that more power tillers would be distributed among farmers later.Power tillers were approved for a total of 49 farmers in Tamulpur district under the NFSA Scheme. Tamulpur MLA Jolen Daimary attended the Tamulpur subdivision agriculture officer's office on March 9 and officially started the work of distributing power tillers among a total of eight farmers. BTC executive member Ghanshyam Das distributed power tillers among a total of 10 farmers on Friday. BTC executive member Dharmanarayan Das and MCLA Hemant Kumar Rabha were also present in today's power tiller distribution event.
