LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration has undertaken due moves to celebrate the upcoming Republic Day. In this regard, the district administration held a meeting on Monday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office in the presence of almost all the district officers of the government departments.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B presided over the meeting wherein detailed discussion was held in view of observing the auspicious occasion smoothly in a free and fair environment. In addition to the departmental heads of the district, District Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Baruah, ADCs Bipul Kumar Das, Utpal Borah, Sampriti Goswami, Manorama Morang, Superintendent of Police Longnit Terang, representatives of the senior citizens, freedom fighters, Chamber of Commerce, sport associations, students' union, schools and colleges were present in the meeting and extended their suggestions.

In the meeting, due responsibilities were distributed to the district departments to prepare for the same. The meeting laid emphasis on ensuring water-tight security in the district in order to avert any kind of possible untoward incident to be caused by unscrupulous elements. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B directed the district departments to carry out their duties and shoulder responsibilities sincerely to celebrate the august occasion without any fault and discrepancy. He also appealed to the citizens of the district to extend their cooperation to celebrate the occasion well.

Notably, the district administration will hold various competitions among the students in addition to the main agenda of the Republic Day. Colourful cultural programme will also be organized.
