Professor Ganesh Chandra Wary Appointed first VC of Kokrajhar University

KOKRAJHAR: Professor Ganesh Chandra Wary, former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Cotton University and Academic Registrar of Bodoland University, officially assumed office today as the Vice Chancellor of Kokrajhar University. He is the first Vice Chancellor of the university from the Bodo community.

A felicitation ceremony was held to welcome Prof. Wary, attended by several dignitaries including Kokrajhar MLA Lawrence Islary, Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University Prof. B.L. Ahuja, ex-Principal of Kokrajhar Government College Dr. Binay Kr. Brahma, and Dr. Surath Narzary, President of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha. The current Principal of Kokrajhar Government College Dr. Dimasha Dwibrang Mashahary, leaders from the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), and other prominent citizens also participated in the event. Prof. Wary was felicitated with the traditional Bodo “Aronai” as a mark of honour and respect.

Following the ceremony, Prof. Wary held interactive sessions with the faculty and students of Kokrajhar Government College in separate auditoriums, where he shared his experiences and future vision. Speaking to the media, he expressed happiness and gratitude on being appointed to the position, acknowledging the significant responsibilities that come with it. He emphasized that his immediate priorities include the appointment of a university registrar and the recruitment of both teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure smooth functioning of the institution.

Prof. Wary brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience. A distinguished professor of Physics, his research interests span materials science, particularly thin semiconducting films and thermo luminescence properties of natural minerals. He has authored numerous papers in reputed journals and is affiliated with prestigious organizations such as the Physics Academy of North-East (PANE) and the Thermo Physical Society of India (TPSI). He hails from the undivided Lakhimpur district of Assam.
