HAFLONG: NC Hills Indigenous Students' Forum and NC Hills Indigenous Women Forum in a joint press meet held at the office have withdrawn the protest on January 18 at NH 54E following the assurance from the government, NCHISF president Devid Keivom said on Monday.

The protest was for the immediate payment of the compensation to NHAI-affected villagers as per their promise and immediate maintenance and action against NHAI & its contractors for failure to complete the maintenance work of NH-54E Mahur – Harangajao portion (Package No. As-21 & Package No As-22).

Keivom along with the leaders of NCHIWF stated that considering the COVID situation and also the assurance from the government about their demands they have called off the proposed demonstration at 54 E on January 18.

He also informed that Indigenous People's Forum also has called off their 12-hour Dima Hasao bandh on January 19, the day cabinet meeting is being held following the assurance of a meeting to be held on January 23 between the Chief Minister and IPF leaders.
