NAGAON: Due to alleged political pressure and massive intervention in the internal affairs of the temple, an irate mob of Barhampur Bherbheri areas and some employees of the temple went on a rampage on Sunday and shattered down the main routes as well as entry gate of the new Mahamrityunjaya Mandir at Barhampur Bherbheri village.

This shocking as well as the unexpected incident took place right after dismissal of a local employee from his service by the Mandir management committee, sources added.

Following the closure of the entry gate of the Mahamrityunjaya Mandir, the irate mob also staged a protest against the management committee as well as the unabated intervention in internal affairs of the temple.

During the protest, the agitators alleged that the current management committee of Mahamrityunjaya Mandir allegedly dismissed some local youths from the temple and replaced them with youths from outside the State. Besides, they also alleged that such incidents unexpectedly took place only due to the unabated intervention as well as influence of some political leaders. During the protest, the local protesters shouted various slogans against political interference.

Significantly, Barhampur MLA Jitu Goswami over phone from Delhi tried to console as well as calm the irate mob down. But the mob paid no heed to his words. Instead, they demanded immediate re-engagement in service of those local youths terminated by the authority concerned of the temple.

Meanwhile, Jitu Goswami promised to take the initiative to withdraw the termination of the local youths, sources said.
