Protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act continue in Tezpur

Tezpur: Protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act continued in Tezpur. The members of the Adhyattmik Gana Pratibadi Manch organized a rally on Saturday.

The people shouted slogans against the BJP-led governments at the Centre and the State and took out a massive rally from Swahid Bakori Mazgaon, through the NT road via Tribune Chariali and the road in front of Tezpur police station via the MG road and culminated at the DC Court Chariali.

Several organizations, including Tezpur Lekhika Mancha, Tezpur Mahila Manch, Tezpur AASU, AJYCP Tezpur chapter, Naam Gharia Samaj and Tezpur Bhakot and Gopini Samaj participated in the protest. They demanded immediate withdrawal of the CAA. They also appealed to everyone for a peaceful democratic protest.

The agitators later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur and demanded immediate withdrawal of the Act.
