GUWAHATI: The Inli Foundation organized a quiz competition held recently in memory of the late Lilavati Das, as part of the Maharajat Jayanti celebrations at PM SHRI Damdama Higher Secondary School. A total of 98 participants from various regions of Assam, including Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Shillong, Kaziranga, and Gohpur, took part in the event.
The programme was inaugurated by eminent storyteller, educationist, and former principal of the school, Prasanna Kumar Das, who lit a ceremonial lamp in front of Lilavati Das’s portrait. In his address, he praised the commendable efforts of Lilavati Das’s children—Indrajit, Purbi, and Gitanjali—for preserving their mother’s legacy at a time when the neglect of elderly parents is becoming increasingly common. He also emphasized the vital role of school education and family values in shaping honest and responsible citizens.
Former Principal Ganesh Chandra Das, a distinguished guest at the event, reflected on the glorious history of the historic school and shared memories of his time with Lilavati Das, whom he remembered as a talented student. Guest of Honour and renowned sports organizer Basudev Thakurya spoke about the importance of a sports-orientated mindset in building an honest life and paid tribute to the life and values upheld by Lilavati Das.
Principal Surya Kumar Bhattacharya welcomed all the contestants and highlighted the academic achievements of the school. Lalit Chandra Das, husband of the late Lilavati Das, encouraged attendees to move forward in life with rational thinking rather than being swayed by emotions.
The event was meticulously planned and conducted by Indrajit Das, Chairman of the Inli Foundation. Dr Samujjal Bhardwaj, a physician in the palliative care department of the Barua Cancer Institute, was also present on the occasion, stated a press release.
