Recovered Body in Bokakhat Identified, Three Suspects Nabbed from Borjuri Area

Numaligarh: A body was recovered from a drain in Borjuri Sector of Methoni Tea Estate on August 18. The deceased has been identified by police as Nuruddin Khandaitar of Barpeta.

According to police, he was a truck driver of Tilak Logistic Transport Company. After the recovery of the body on August 18, Bokakhat police registered a case and were investigating the matter. A team of Bokakhat police led by Sub-Inspector Deben Bora apprehended three suspects- Gopal Saikia, Utpal Bora and Rajani Kardong- from the Borjuri area on Saturday night.

According to sources, Nuruddin was carrying 500 cartons of liquor in his truck (AS-O1-KC-0862) from Saran Industries, Sonapur, to Ajoy Dutta Bonded Warehouse in Jorhat. Two persons Dipankar Das and Anthony Kardong were also in the truck as passengers. Both, along with the three detained suspects, were planning to murder Nuruddin and sell off the liquor. As per their planning, Dipankar and Anthony killed Nuruddin inside the truck on August 18 and threw his body in the drain in Borjuri sector of Methoni Tea Estate and took off with the truck full of liquor.

After thorough investigation, police succeeded to nab three suspects and also recovered a total of 424 cartons of liquor from the house of Rajani Kardong. According to a police source, one of the detained suspects was also contacting some liquor shops of Bokakhat to sell the liquor. Police are still looking for the main two suspects who are on the run.
