Relief Materials Distributed Among Flood-Affected People in Pathsala

PATHSALA: After the devastating flood of River Pahumara, a large number of people under Bajali subdivision are staying in shelter camps and though the flood situation is improving, the inmates of the shelter camps are yet to return to their homes.

According to the official report, most of the rivers like Kaldia, Manah and Pahumara are showing a decreasing trend. The affected people are yet to return to their homes as many areas are still flooded. Relief materials from the government have been distributed among the affected people. Cattle feed has also been distributed in many areas.

Barpeta district police, in presence of the Superintendent of Police of Barpeta, distributed food packets containing chira, sugar, milk, Dettol and mosquito coil in the Rana HS School camp where 158 flood-affected people of 43 families are taking shelter. Birinchi Kumar Bora, SDPO Bajali, Pankaj Sarma, Additional SP, Barpeta, along with other officers were present during the distribution of relief materials. Barpeta Deputy Commissioner Munindra Sarma also visited the camp on Saturday evening and meet the inmates.

As per the daily flood report of the disaster management authority, 50 villages have been affected in the flood, 4,536 hectares cropland damaged and 40,705 people affected in the current wave of flood in Bajali revenue circle.
