CRPF, SDRF and NGO extend a helping hand to flood affected villagers in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The helping hands of the 129 Bn. CRPF and SDRF in the need of the hour especially during the flood wave in different parts of Kokrajhar district was hailed by the villagers who were badly affected and stranded due to flood. The affected people also praised the activists of NGOs and student organizations who visited and shared the pain with the flood-affected villagers besides providing them foodstuff and other primary needs. Meanwhile, the flood situation in Kokrajhar district has receded as the rains stopped since Thursday morning, bringing respite to the people. Amongst the worst affected includes Ajmal model village, Badi and Choto Bhadiyaguri and Kashipara villages near Kokrajhar, Taktara and Northern part of Patgaon that were also flooded by the Gaurang river while massive erosion took place in Shikargaon and Charaguri under Dotma development block in the district. The flood-affected villagers, who were stranded needed immediate evacuation and accordingly on July 23, the 129 Bn.CRPF promptly reached the affected locations and rescued the villagers. The 129 Bn.CRPF expert swimmers along with flood rescue equipments under the supervision of SK Jha, 2 I/C with Tanveer Singh, D/C, Ranjit Kumar Pathak, D/C, SI Ramender Singh, ASI Dinesh Singh reached the affected villages in Ajmal model village, Bhodiaguri and Kashipara and started the rescue work. More than 400 men, women and children from the villages were evacuated to safer places. The rescue work was carried out continuously during flood. During the evacuation, SDRF team personnel along with rescue boat were available with 129 Bn. CRPF personnel. The quick action and services rendered by the personnel of CRPF and SDRF was well appreciated by the villagers and district administration in the hour of need.
