KOKRAJHAR: Renowned Bodo dance exponent and in-charge of the Ramfalbil Bodoland Cultural Centre Barlangfa Narzary has been selected for the prestigious Assam Gaurav Award 2024. The Assam Gaurav Award is one of the highest civilian honours in the state, recognizing individuals for their outstanding contributions in various fields.
Hailing from Ramfalbil Athiabari, Barlangfa Narzary has been dedicating tirelessly to promoting and preserving Bodo traditional dance and has been playing a pivotal role in nurturing local talents and showcasing the Bodo culture in wider platforms. His efforts have significantly contributed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Bodo community.
As a key member of the Bodo Culture and Heritage Preservation Board (BCHPB), he played an important role in securing the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Bodo musical instruments, safeguarding their legacy and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Bodo community.
Recently, distinguished representatives and researchers Fred Rooney from the US, Ganesh Hingmire from Pune and BTC MCLA Reo Reoa Narzihary visited his residence in Ramfalbil to study the making of a traditional Bodo flute. Narzary has showcased Bodo dance and music on various regional, national, and international platforms. In recognition of his contributions, Barlangfa Narzary is going to be honoured with the Assam Gaurav Award 2024 by the Government of Assam.
