Retired headmaster Tosheswar Dutta passes away at 85 in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: A life long member of Axam Xahitya Xabha, a retired headmaster, social activist Tosheswar Dutta breathed his last at around 12.15 am on Thursday night due to old age ailments. He was 85. He was a permanent resident of Chamuagaon under the North Lakhimpur subdivision of the Lakhimpur district.

Late Tosheswar Dutta retired from Pahumara Middle English School as headmaster in 1997. Besides being a lifelong member of AXX, Tosheswar Dutta was the founder president of Purbanchal Sakha Xahitya Xabha and Chamuagaon Chetana Sangha. He served as the president of several school management committees and rendered service to the society being involved with a number of social institutions and organizations including Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha. His body was escorted with Gayan-bayan to the offices of the Purbanchal Sakha Xahitya Xabha and Chetana Sangha, Namghar premises of the village to pay last homage to him on Friday. He is survived by two sons and two daughters along with a host of relatives.
