Rich tributes paid to Asom Keshari Ambikagiri Raichoudhury in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: To commemorate the 138th birth anniversary of Asom Keshari Ambikagiri Raichoudhury, the day-long Chetana Divas was observed at the auditorium of Dibrugarh Hanuman Bux Surajmal Kanoi College.

The day-long programme was marked with a poets’ meet which was chaired by the president of Dibrugarh Zila Sanmilan, Ajit Bora. He also hoisted the flag of Asom Natya Sanmmilan. Mahendra Sonowal lit the traditional lamp while Chabua Sahitya Sabha president Bhogeswar Gogoi garlanded the portrait of Ambikagiri Raichoudhury and paid rich tribute. Nareswar Hzarika and poet Nijora Gogoi recited their self-composed poems. The day’s programme was started with Dihanaam. The Principal of Kanoi College, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia inaugurated the programme. In his speech he spoke about the literally contribution of Asom Keshari and urged upon the students to imbibe his ideals. Former president (in-charge) of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dr Prahlad Kumar Tasha also spoke on the occasion.

Noted educationist and national award winner teacher, Gandeswar Saikia formally released the tri- monthly magazine Chetana. Former Professor of Moran College, Ashimov Dutta and secretary of Chabua Xahitya Xabha, Pustak Phukan graced the function as guest speakers. The others who attended the function included former president of Dibrugarh Lekhika Santha, Gauri Saikia.
