BOKAKHAT: As a special initiative to improve healthcare services in tea garden areas, primary health centres have been constructed in gardens managed by the Assam Tea Corporation. Under this programme, the Rongamati Primary Health Centre in Rongamati tea estate, Golaghat district, which has already been completed, was inaugurated on Monday by Assam’s Minister for Agriculture, Excise, and other departments, Atul Bora.

This six-bedded hospital has been staffed under the National Health Mission’s one-year rural medical service scheme with two doctors, one nurse (ANM), and one laboratory technician.

In his inaugural speech, the minister expressed the current government’s commitment to making healthcare facilities accessible, stating that the inauguration of this primary health centre was directly linked to the good health and rural development of the people in the tea garden region. He further noted that the centre would provide medical services to the local population and contribute to improving healthcare standards in the area.

The Agriculture Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining good health, highlighting the role of daily physical exercise, abstinence from intoxicants, and care for mental health in keeping people disease-free.
