DOOMDOOMA: The Doomdooma Regional Committee of All Assam Chutiya Students’ Union (AACSU) in collaboration with the Doomdooma Regional Committee of Chutiya Jati Mohila Sanmilan (CJMS) observed the 500th Sati Sadhani Divas at Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha Bhawan on Friday.

The day’s programme got underway with the hoisting of AACSU and CJMS flags by the presidents of Doomdooma Regional Committees of AACSU and CJMS Deepjyoti Baruah and Jyoti Bharali Saikia, respectively while the Smriti Tarpan programme was initiated by the general secretary of the Doomdooma Regional Committee of AACSU, Aditya Chutiya.

On the other hand, the general secretary of Doomdooma Regional Committee of Chutiya Jati Sanmilan (CJS) Mridupaban Borah lit the ceremonial lamp in front of the portrait of Sati Sadhani. On the other hand, secretary of Doomdooma Press Club Manoj Baruah garlanded the portrait of Sati Sadhani.

The public meeting was held thereafter with writer and social activist Diganta Kumar Bhajani in the chair. Padma Shri award winning folk singer Jhumoir Samrat Dulal Manki, prominent Assamese poet and writer Dr. Aruna Gogoi Baruah, noted academician and social activist Prakash Dutta, internationally recognized orchid specialist Khyanajeet Gogoi and social activist and the secretary of Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha Deben Deka were felicitated by the organisers for their remarkable contributions towards their respective fields.

The meeting was also attended by the Principal of Sadiya College, Dr. Bhupen Chutiya, social activist from Sadiya Gunin Chutiya, Assistant Professor of Doomdooma College Dwijen Sharma, journalist Abhijit Khataniar and several others as guests of honour. At the beginning of the meeting, Nisha Baruah and Nikita Hazarika presented a song while Maharshi Kalita presented a dance in the middle of the meeting.
